How to calculate the Local Shear Stress in Turbulent Flow Direction In order to calculate the local shear stress in the turbulent flow direction we consider the flow of air over a small flat surface under standard sealevel conditions and assume turbulent flow.

The length in the flow direction in meters (m) The width in meters The flow velocity in meters/sec We also need to give the locations between which the local shear stress will be compared from the leading edge measured in the flow direction.
