Location of Aerodynamic Center and Value of Cmac

In order to calculate the location of the aerodynamic center of a given wing body arrangement tested in the sub-sonic wind tunnel and the value of moment coefficient about aerodynamic center..



We must know the value at which Lift is found to be zero at geometric angle of attack alpha.


We must also have the alpha, Angle of attack AOA and the corresponding Lift coefficient.


Furthermore, we must also have two other alpha values AOA values and the corresponding moment coefficients in terms.


And finally we need the value of the Center of Gravity in terms of Mean Aerodynamic Chord (c).



Doing the Calculation, the following parameters are achieved,

  • Lift Slope (dCl/dalpha) in per degree

  • Cm, cg Value

  • Cm, ac Value
