Period of Planet and Semimajor Axis of Orbit In order to Calculate the period of planet we must enter the period of revolution of planet about star in days.

How to Calculate the Period of Revolution of the Planet
The period of revolution of the planet is calculated using the Kepler's third law of planetary motion which states that,
The periods of any two satellites about the same planet are related to their semimajor axes. The formula for Kepler's third law is,
(t1^2) = (a1^2)   (t2^2) (a2^2)
where, t1 = the period of revolution of the planet (e.g earth about sun) which is known t2 = the period of revolution of the planet you wish to find. a1 = semimajor axis of the planet (e.g earth) a2 = semimajor axis of the planet you wish to find the period of revolution.
So, rewriting the formula to find the period of revolution of the planet gives,
t2 = t1 * ((a2/a1)^ (3/2))
which computes the period of revolution of the planet.
Another method using a software is given below,
Furthermore, We also need the semimajor axis of planet's orbit and Semimajor Axis of Orbit of Other Planet. With the help of Kepler's Third Law the Period of the Planet is computed in days.
In order to Calculate the Semimajor Axis of Planet's orbit, the following procedure is adopted,
The period of Revolution of Planet about a Star is entered in days.
Then the Semimajor Axis of Planet's Orbit in days is entered.
Then the period of Revolution of Other Planet is entered. Finally, the Semimajor Axis of Planet's Orbit is computed. Download Free Program to Calculate the Period of Revolution
