How to Calculate the Velocity at  a point on the Airfoil

In this article we would look into how to calculate the velocity at a point on the airfoil considering compressible flow.

 

 

In order to calculate the velocity, we need to have,

 

The freestream Pressure P(inf) in lb/ft^2

The freestream Velocity V(inf) in mi/hr

The freestream Density row(inf) in slug/ft^3

The pressure at a point on the airfoil Pa in lb/ft^2

 

For air, we know that Cp = 6006 ft.lb/slug.R

 

Performing the calculation,

we get the freestream temperature, the temperature at point A on the airfoil Ta and the Velocity at the point A on the Airfoil.
