Indonesian National Space Agency

The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) is the National Space agency of Indonesia. It is responsible for all space-related activities of Indonesia and promotes the Indonesian national Space Program.

 

The national space agency of Malaysia LAPAN was established in 1964. LAPAN is responsible for carrying out civil and military aerospace research and space research but one of the most important task of the LAPAN is to connect all the 6000 islands of Indonesia. LAPAN has launched many satellites to provide telecommunication cover to all the islands in Indonesia. LAPAN satellites include LAPSAT-I and II and the Palapa satellites.

 

LAPAN also carries out research in the field of atmospheric study, environment research, global warming. Other fields of research and development of LAPAN include Remote Sensing, Communication system technology, satellites, weather station. LAPAN also has well established rocket propellant and rocket motor laboratories as well.
